Trinity Church is a small lively congregation that meets in Beacon Valley in Mitchells Plain. Beacon Valley is a relatively poor, coloured community although Trinity enjoys a multiracial, and multi-income membership. We are part of the denomination that will be officially known as REACH-South Africa from September 2014. (Currently called CESA) Reaching South Africa with the hope that is found in the Gospel about Jesus is what we do but the letters also refer to our heritage and so we describe ourselves as a Reformed, Evanbelical, Anglican Church.
Our Moto is “God’s Word Above All Things.” And so if you attend our services you will find that the bible is taught. We do not simply use the bible as a starting point for a sermon but work hard to explain what the bible is actually saying. We identify the histrocial context of a particular passage of the bible. We work hard to understand the genre or style of the writing. We want to know what the original author intended to say to the original hearers. We believe that the whole bible, Old Testament and New Testament is about and / or points us to Jesus. We believe that all scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God might be fully equipped for every good work. (2Timothy 3:16)
We believe in the Royal priesthood of all believers and so we encourage all members of the Christian family to participate in the family business of proclaiming the gospel and loving one another, caring for the poor and contending for truth.
